This Sunday, we wrapped up our series in Jeremiah 29 by remembering God’s call to seek the peace and welfare of the places where we live, work, learn, and serve. We reflected on how God invited the exiles—and invites us—to look beyond ourselves, serve others, and pray for the communities around us. We were reminded that when we seek the peace of others, we often discover greater peace, connection, and wholeness ourselves. Together, we considered what it means for the church to be the church not just when we gather, but wherever we are sent.

This week's scripture was Jeremiah 29:4-14
- Seeking the peace of others produces peace in ourselves. God's counterintuitive instruction to the exiles was that their own wholeness was tied to the wholeness of the community around them. When we invest in the welfare of those around us, something shifts in us and in the culture we are a part of.
- Small acts of service have a ripple effect. Just as holding a door for a stranger makes that person significantly more likely to do the same for someone else, our individual choices to put others first create real change in the communities where God has placed us.
- The church grows when its arrows point outward. When a congregation focuses inward and asks what's in it for us, it begins to shrink. But when we seek the peace of the city to which we have been called, the footprint of the church expands far beyond any single building or gathering.
