Sunday Re-Cap (April 20, 2026)

This Sunday, we discussed the common uncertainty we feel after we celebrate Easter. We looked at Jesus' encounter with Peter in John 21 and how we are called beyond comfortable patterns into active mission. When we are uncertain about our next steps spiritually, the answer is always the same: go out to love and serve others.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was John 21:15-19
  • When we're unsure what to do next, we often default to what's familiar rather than what we're called to do. Jesus invites us to "cast our nets on the other side of the boat"—to try something different that serves others.

  • Loving Jesus is demonstrated through loving and serving the people He loves. Our faith is revealed not in what we say and hear, but in how we serve out there in the world.

  • God often heals us by sending us to help someone else. If you're feeling stuck spiritually, the answer may be to engage in mission whether through VBX, Summer Lunch Program, or Lawrenceville Assistance Project.
