Sunday Re-Cap (January 12, 2026)

This Sunday, we explored the transformative power of understanding our identity as beloved children of God. On this baptism of the Lord Sunday, we looked at Jesus' baptism from a new perspective — not as washing away sins (because Jesus was sinless) — but as a way of Jesus identifying with humanity so that we can find our identity in Him.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was Matthew 3:13-17
  • Identity shapes behavior: Who we are determines what we do. Instead of focusing only on outcomes and processes, lasting change begins when we embrace our identity as beloved children of God.

  • You are worthy of love: You don't have to earn God's love through performance or good works. God's love for you is not based on what you accomplish but on whose you are.

  • Love transforms how we see others: When we live from the security of being loved, we begin to see everyone around us—even those we disagree with—as loved by God, which changes how we treat them and engage with the world.
