Sunday Re-Cap (December 1, 2025)

This Sunday, we explored Mark's Gospel approach to Christmas, which begins not with Jesus' birth but with John the Baptist's call to preparation. Unlike the automated ease of modern Christmas preparation, the spiritual preparation we are called to during this season of Advent requires intentional work.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.
This week's scripture was Mark 1:1-8
  • Repentance is not just saying sorry—it's turning around. True repentance means doing a 180-degree turn away from sin and walking toward Jesus.

  • We're good at making room for everything except Christ. We make room in our homes for relatives, under our trees for gifts, in our calendars for parties, but do we make room in our hearts for Jesus? Preparing for Advent means relinquishing our self-privileges and examining our own deficiencies, not others'.

  • Hope is a choice, not optimism. Biblical hope isn't about seeing the good in a bad situation. it's choosing to trust that God's character is what He says it is and that He will do what He says He will do.
