Sunday Re-Cap (September 1, 2025)

This Sunday, Rev. Minho Chung invited us to reflect on the concept of unity within the body of Christ. This unity isn't about uniformity, but about having one heart, one purpose, and one mission. It's a unity centered in Christ, shaped by love, and directed outward. When we live as one in Christ, the world sees God's love through us.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was John 17:20-26
  • Unity is not about uniformity, but about having one heart, one purpose, and one mission centered in Christ.
  • Our unity directly impacts our witness to the world – people will see God's love through our oneness.
  • We are called to be the answer to Jesus' prayer by living out unity in our families, church, and community.

As we move forward from our "Open House" theme to becoming a "Living House," let's consider how we can actively contribute to the unity Jesus prayed for. How can we make our church a place where Christ dwells, God's love shines, and our community sees God through us?

A Labor Day Prayer

Dear God,

On this Labor Day, we ask you to help us live lives of meaning;

We want to do work that gives honor to you and brings dignity to us and our fellow humans;

May our jobs be ones where we treat each other and your world with kindness and respect;

May we build relationships with one another that aren’t riddled with problems of caste, class, or envy.

Help us to see the inequalities that trouble you, the injustices that systems hold in place, and the violence that undermines the love you labor so to bring into our world.

Send us out each day with your blessing and help us remember that you walk with us in our daily work and want the best for ourselves, our families, and all your people wherever they may live.

And may our labor be a blessing to you and to others, and may we be thankful for all people, gifts, and opportunities that bless and challenge us.

In your gracious name, we pray. Amen.
