February 2nd, 2026

This Sunday, we talked about the pervasive anxiety and need for control that characterizes modern life, using the story of Mary and Martha to illustrate the difference between trying to be "over it" ourselves versus allowing Jesus to be "over it."
True peace comes not from managing our anxiety through control, but from surrendering to Jesus as Lord and sitting at His feet like Mary rather than frantically working like Martha.

Sermon Notes
Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.
This week's scripture was Luke 10:38-42
This week's scripture was Luke 10:38-42
- Our anxiety leads to reactivity and control: When we're overwhelmed, we often try to control what we can, but this creates a vicious cycle where the things we try to control end up controlling us.
- Control is really displaced anxiety: Our attempts to control situations, people, or outcomes are actually ways of placing our anxiety on someone or something else, hoping they'll do what we want so we can feel better.
- Surrender brings peace: The invitation is to shift from being "over it" to allowing Jesus to be "over it"—to physically and spiritually sit at His feet, relax in His presence.
