Sunday Re-Cap (August 17, 2026)

This Sunday, we continued in Jeremiah 29 and reflected on God’s invitation to build homes, plant gardens, and seek belonging even in places of exile. We talked about how all of us long to be known, welcomed, and given a place to belong. Together, we considered how real community requires time, inconvenience, and commitment. Real community also becomes the place where healing and growth happen. We were reminded that as we build places of belonging, we create space for people to grow in faith and fruitfulness.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was Jeremiah 29:4-14
  • Real belonging requires real investment. God's instruction to build houses and dwell in them was not a call to temporary comfort but to permanent, rooted presence. Belonging does not happen by accident. It requires us to show up consistently for one another, even when it is inconvenient.

  • The cost of community is inconvenience. We cannot experience the fruitfulness of genuine relationship without being willing to give our time and presence to others.

  • People belong before they believe, and they believe before they grow. Fruitfulness in our faith does not come from Sunday morning attendance alone. It grows in the smaller, safer spaces of community, in groups where we are known, seen, and challenged to mature together in Christ, as described in John 15.
