Sunday Re-Cap (August 10, 2026)

This Sunday, we continued in Jeremiah 29 and reflected on what we are truly looking for in life. We remembered that, even in seasons of exile, God’s plans for us are still rooted in peace, wholeness, and hope. We explored how God invites us to respond by seeking Him through worship, prayer, and drawing near together. When we seek God with all our hearts, we find the meaning, belonging, and purpose we are longing for.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was Jeremiah 29:4-14
  • All of us are searching for meaning, belonging, and purpose, and God's design is for us to find those things not in the next achievement or accumulation, but in him. What we focus on tends to be where we end up, so the direction of our seeking matters deeply.

  • Worship is our active response to God's goodness, not a passive experience we observe from a distance. Calling on God, praying, and searching for him together are the ways we interrupt our preoccupation with ourselves and attend to the presence of God, as Eugene Peterson put it.

  • God always makes the first move. We do not earn his attention or his plans for our welfare. He has already declared his intention to bring us peace and wholeness, and our role is to respond to what he has already done, not to perform in hopes that he will act.
