Sunday Re-Cap (May 4, 2026)

This Sunday, we took a look at Joshua 1 where God commands us to be strong and courageous when facing life transitions. We found that true strength and courage don't come from having everything figured out, but from knowing that God goes with us.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was Joshua 1:1-9
  • God's presence transforms our transitions: We're never fully prepared for what's next, but we don't need to have everything figured out because God goes with us. The growing happens in the going.

  • Resilience comes from staying grounded in God's Word: The Hebrew words "shazak v'ematz" (be strong and courageous) speak to both external strength and inner resolve—what we call resilience. This resilience is built by getting into God's Word and letting it get into us, keeping our eyes fixed on God's goodness.

  • Remember God's faithfulness: God's faithfulness in the wilderness prepares us for faithfulness in the promised land. When we remember how God has been faithful in the past, we find the courage to trust Him in the present and future.
