December 22nd, 2025

This Sunday, we explored how Jesus enters into the complexity and complications of our lives and families during the Christmas season. While we live in a complex world filled with darkness, loneliness, and fractured relationships, the Christmas story reveals a profound simplicity: God doesn't love from a distance but becomes flesh and dwells among us.

This week's scripture was John 1:1-5, 10-14
This week's scripture was John 1:1-5, 10-14
- Light shines in darkness: We don't have to pretend the difficult things don't exist. The gospel acknowledges darkness but declares that light shines in that darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it. Sometimes the darkest moments are when light shines brightest.
- God dwells with us: The Word didn't just visit; He "tabernacled" with us—He set up camp in our mess. Jesus affirms human dignity by showing up in flesh, staying close, and being present through laughter and tears. This is how God loves, and it's how we're called to love others.
- Presence is the best present: In a culture of isolation where 14 million Americans will spend Christmas alone, the simple act of showing up matters profoundly.
