September 29th, 2025

This Sunday, we were challenged to move beyond the common understanding of loving only those who love us, and instead embrace Jesus' difficult command to love and pray for our enemies. This love is not about feelings, but about decisions and actions. This approach to love can lead to personal freedom and spiritual growth, reflecting God's perfect love for all people.

Sermon Notes
Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.
This week's scripture was Matthew 5:43-48
This week's scripture was Matthew 5:43-48
- Love is a decision and an action, not just a feeling. We are called to make a conscious choice to love, even when it's difficult.
- Praying for our "enemies" can transform our hearts and free us from the burden of hatred.
- Our ability to love those we struggle with is a reflection of our love for God and our spiritual maturity.
As we go about our week, let's challenge ourselves to put this teaching into practice. Is there someone in your life - perhaps a family member, coworker, or neighbor - that you find difficult to love? Consider taking a moment each day to pray for their well-being and see how it might change your heart.
As Dorothy Day said, "I really only love God as much as I love the person I love the least." Let's strive to grow in our capacity to love, reflecting the perfect love of our heavenly Father.
