Sunday Re-Cap (September 8, 2025)

This Sunday, we explored Jesus' teachings on anger in the Sermon on the Mount and emphasized how Jesus deepens the understanding of the commandment "You shall not murder" to include the destructive power of anger and insults. Jesus calls us to self-reflection, identifying the causes of our anger, and taking steps towards reconciliation.

Sermon Notes

Check out some of the key takeaways from this past Sunday's sermon.

This week's scripture was Matthew 5:21-24
  • Anger is an emotion we all experience, but nursing anger can be deeply harmful to ourselves and our relationships.
  • Jesus equates harboring anger with murder, not in terms of legal consequences, but in its power to destroy relationships and dehumanize others and ourselves.
  • Reconciliation is the antidote to anger.

As we reflect on these teachings, let's challenge ourselves to examine the sources of anger in our lives and take steps towards reconciliation. Addressing our anger and seeking to make amends isn't just about improving our relationships with others—it's a crucial part of our relationship with God.
